The Knowledge Engineering Services (KES) department is focused on developing technologies for efficiently acquiring, representing, retrieving, and delivering knowledge to individuals and organizations.
We are creating new products and offerings based on advanced text analytics, machine learning, the Watson/Jeopardy! technology, and data mining techniques for delivering personalized education, for creating automated self-help systems for technical problem resolution, and to improve the efficiency of IT services delivery.
Candidates applying for this department should be proficient in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, text analytics, natural language processing, information extraction, information retrieval, data mining, etc. and should have hands-on development and implementation skills.
We are currently looking to hire outstanding Research Software Engineers in our group.
Responsibilities of this position include designing, developing, and testing systems built around the above mentioned research areas.
Candidates are also expected to contribute to core research activities in our group's and other areas of interest, as well as contribute to solving IBM business units problems.
Qualifications for Research Scientist: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields Development and/or research experience in, and strong familiarity with, KES focus areas (listed above) Industrial and research internships and experience a plus Excellent programming skills and an ability to formulate and solve real-world problems.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
